Bio

Rich Royal was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and for as long as he can remember he has been drawn to and surrounded by very artistic people. Working as an event curator for companies such as; the Bar Marmont, the Standard Hotel, Palihouse, the Houston brothers, Chateau Hanare and many more, he hosted exclusive private events for celebrities and high end brands all over the world.  

After working with Dita Von Teese on her North American Tour in 2016 he decided it was time to do something creative himself and photography became his outlet. Inspired by his close friends David La Chapelle and Ellen Von Unwerth, he attended The Los Angeles Center of Photography and has never looked back. 

His first shoot (of Daphne Guinness) was published in Flaunt Magazine Sept 2018. Since then subjects have included Dita von Teese, David La Chapelle, Daphne Guinness, Ellen Von Unwerth, Mena Suvari, Camila Cabello, Cole Sprouse, Beck, Amanda Le Pore and has worked with Absolut Elyx, Easyrider, The Grammy’s, Sabrina, American Horror Story, Edition Hotel, Giorgio’s, Suzanne Bartch, Rick Owens, Variety Magazine, The Ace Hotel, Le Refuge (Paris) Chateau Versailles (Paris) Raspoutine (LA & Paris) and Angeleno Magazine

Highly saturated, high contrast, minimal retouching, non sexualized and respectful images are his forte. Connecting with his subject first in order to make them feel as comfortable as possible, he is trusted by the most untrusting and his images truly reflect their personality or the character they are portraying. The detail and vivid colors in his photographs are so eye-catching that even Ellen Von Unwerth has referred to his style as “Very Rich Royal”
